The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria has announced the death of its Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, following a brief illness.
The Ogun State Sector Command confirmed his death in a statement issued on Sunday, October 18, 2026, and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi.
The command described Ogunjobi's death as a major loss to the organisation, his colleagues and the wider road safety community.
During his service, Ogunjobi contributed to efforts aimed at improving road safety, increasing public awareness and strengthening cooperation between the FRSC and other stakeholders.
He also worked to improve compliance with traffic regulations as part of the corps' efforts to reduce road accidents and promote safer travel across Nigeria.
In its statement, the command expressed condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and other people affected by his death.
The FRSC said further information regarding his funeral arrangements would be communicated when appropriate.
Ogunjobi's death comes months after he assumed leadership of the Ogun State Sector Command. In April 2026, he pledged to promote discipline, professionalism and integrity among officers, while declaring a zero-tolerance approach to extortion.
His leadership priorities included strengthening teamwork within the command and improving the delivery of road safety services to the public.
The announcement has marked a difficult moment for the Ogun State command as colleagues and members of the road safety community mourn the loss of their leader.
